More than 160 oil tankers stranded in the Persian Gulf, maritime organization warns against dangerous crossings.
According to British sources on the 9th, more than 160 mainstream oil tankers are still stranded in the waters of the Persian Gulf since the outbreak of regional conflicts at the end of February, with the time exceeding 100 days. The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization warned on that day that seafarers should not be put at risk by passing through the Strait of Hormuz for the sake of commercial interests. It is reported that although about one-fourth of the oil tankers initially located in the Persian Gulf have gradually left, the progress of departure in recent times has significantly slowed down. The security risks near the Strait of Hormuz remain high, with most ship owners continuing to maintain a high level of caution and unwilling to hastily arrange ships to pass through the relevant waters.
