Google and American Airlines sign SAF agreement
Google and American Airlines announced on June 9th that they have signed the largest public agreement to date between an airline company and a corporate end user for sustainable aviation fuel. Through this long-term collaboration, the two parties will jointly unlock 35 million gallons of SAF, with an expected reduction of nearly 300,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions. This agreement also led American Airlines to sign a long-term SAF supply contract with fuel producer Valero. Google will offset the carbon emissions from employee business travel by purchasing SAF certificates, while American Airlines will purchase actual SAF to reduce flight emissions.
