Since the outbreak of the war in Iran, Germany's industrial output has increased for the first time, boosting hopes that Europe's largest economy can withstand the impact of rising energy costs. The German Federal Statistical Office said on Tuesday that industrial output grew by 0.4% in April compared to the previous month, driven by the construction industry. This data is consistent with the median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg. Data for March was also revised upward, with industrial output in that month only slightly declining by 0.1%, rather than the previously reported 0.7% decrease. At the same time, Germany unexpectedly saw growth in both exports and imports in April.
