Morgan Stanley: UK leverage reform could support short-term UK government bonds.
In a report, Morgan Stanley strategists stated that potential changes in the leverage ratio structure of large UK banks could increase their leverage space by approximately 250 billion and boost demand for short-term UK government bonds. These strategists stated, "As banks adjust their 'high quality liquid assets' investment portfolios over several quarters, the process of directly purchasing UK government bonds may be gradual."
