Industry insiders: With the current situation of circulation inventory and production capacity, it is difficult to reverse the high egg prices in the short term.
The data from Xinfa Market shows that on June 7th, the average price of loose eggs was 6.1 yuan per half kilogram, an increase of over 50% compared to two months ago. During the same period last year, the market average price was around 3.5 yuan per half kilogram, an increase of over 70% year-on-year. The person in charge of a fresh food platform stated that the reason for the recent increase in egg prices is primarily due to the decline in the number of laying hens, resulting in insufficient new supply. Additionally, market inventory is low, combined with the impact of the Labor Day holiday, leading to low circulation inventory in the market. Taking into account the current circulation inventory and production capacity, it is difficult to reverse the high egg prices in the short term. However, since the second quarter of this year, the willingness of farmers to replenish their flocks has continued to increase, and it is expected that overall market capacity will increase in the fourth quarter.
