On December 7th, the 8th Legislative Council election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was officially held. This is another important legislative council election held by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region after improving the electoral system and implementing the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong". From 7:30 am, all polling stations in Hong Kong opened, and voting will continue until 11:30 pm, with preliminary results planned to be announced in the early morning of December 8th. This election will elect 90 members of the Legislative Council, including 40 from the Election Committee constituency, 30 from the Functional constituency, and 20 from the geographic constituency. The term of office for the elected members will begin on January 1, 2026, and last for four years.
