Since the outbreak of the conflict, Sudan has experienced nearly 200 attacks on medical facilities.
On December 2 local time, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that since the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan in April 2023, there have been 198 attacks on medical health facilities in the country, resulting in 1735 deaths of medical personnel and patients, and 438 injuries. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus posted on social media that armed individuals continue to attack Sudanese medical facilities, seriously hindering local residents from accessing much-needed medical services. He pointed out that attacks on medical facilities violate international humanitarian law and must be stopped immediately. He called on all parties involved in the armed conflict in Sudan to effectively protect the safety of medical personnel, patients, and medical infrastructure.
