Tsinghua University has established the Institute of Physical Intelligence and Robotics.

Tsinghua University has recently established the Institute of Pervasive Intelligence and Robotics. The institute is affiliated with the Academy of Sciences and is jointly constructed by the Department of Automation, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electronics, and Department of Computer Science. It will bring together internal and external expert teams to collaborate on key breakthroughs in the "robust body + intelligent brain" full-stack technology from "0 to 1" through original innovation. At the same time, leveraging the industrial ecology resources of Beijing, it will build a full-chain hub for technology research and development, pilot verification, and scenario applications to accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements. It is reported that the director of the institute is Zhang Tao, director of the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University. The institute is committed to building a talent highland with global influence and an innovation source, forming a virtuous cycle of "building high-level scientific research platforms to drive technological innovation, and using technological innovation to enhance high-quality education." It will strengthen Tsinghua University's position as a core support point in China's "robotics+" strategy, leading the race in the field of pervasive intelligence and robotics, nurturing new productive forces, and providing core driving force for the country to gain strategic advantage in the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.
