The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government prohibits the operation of "Hong Kong Parliament" and "Hong Kong Democratic Nation Building Alliance" in Hong Kong.
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor exercised the power conferred by Article 60 of the National Security Law on the 2nd day and published a notice in the Gazette, prohibiting the operation or continuation of the operation of the "Hong Kong Parliament" and the "Hong Kong Democratic Rebuilding Alliance" in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which takes effect immediately.
A spokesman for the Security Bureau emphasized: "The Chief Executive of the Security Bureau has ordered the prohibition of the 'Hong Kong Parliament' and the 'Hong Kong Democratic Rebuilding Alliance' from operating or continuing to operate in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The two organizations have immediately become banned organizations. Any person engaging in activities specified in Articles 62 to 65 of the National Security Law is committing a crime, including: acting as an officer or member of a banned organization, or claiming to be an officer or member of a banned organization; conducting activities on behalf of a banned organization; participating in meetings of a banned organization; inciting others to become members of a banned organization; providing any form of assistance to a banned organization or profiting from it, Upon conviction, a maximum fine of HK$1,000,000 and imprisonment of up to 14 years may be imposed."
The spokesman said: "Endangering national security is a very serious crime, and such acts or activities may have extremely serious consequences. The police will strictly enforce the law against relevant criminal activities, and call on the general public not to break the law, not to participate in any activities of banned organizations, or have any association with them, and to draw a clear line with banned organizations."
