Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN: UN General Assembly to consider draft resolution demanding the US end its blockade against Cuba.
Cuban Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ernesto Sobern Guzmn said in an interview with Prensa Latina that the UN General Assembly will consider the draft resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" on the 27th and 28th. The Cuban side will use specific examples to illustrate the harm caused to the Cuban people by the U.S. blockade. Guzmn accused the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations and U.S. embassies in various countries of pressuring other countries, threatening sanctions and economic and political retaliation, and trying to make countries that have consistently supported the relevant resolution change their voting stance, abstain or be absent from the vote. Guzmn said that the United States has further tightened its energy blockade against Cuba and imposed sanctions on third countries, leaving Cuba facing an even more severe situation. He stressed that Cuba is committed to safeguarding national independence and national sovereignty and advocates the peaceful settlement of disputes.
