Singapore launches nuclear energy capability-building plan.
According to a joint statement from Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Energy Market Authority, Singapore has launched three initiatives to support the development of local nuclear energy professionals. These initiatives aim to build domestic nuclear energy capabilities and deepen understanding of various aspects of civil nuclear power development. Government public officials involved in energy development will gain practical experience in nuclear energy through on-the-job practice at nuclear technology companies, engineering, procurement and construction firms, and other relevant organizations. The initiative will be launched in 2027 and progressively advanced over the coming years. The initiatives will provide funding support for personnel from selected Singaporean companies to participate in training programs and industry internships. The first batch of research fellows with nuclear energy expertise will be appointed this year. Currently, Singapore has not yet made a decision on developing nuclear energy.
