Moody's maintains France's sovereign credit rating and negative outlook.
International credit rating agency Moody's Ratings announced on the 23rd that it is maintaining France's sovereign credit rating at Aa3, with the rating outlook kept at "negative." Moody's said in a statement that the precondition for maintaining the Aa3 rating is that France can pass a 2027 budget bill conducive to reducing the fiscal deficit, as well as a decline in financing costs and some easing of social unrest in the coming months. Previously, the market widely expected Moody's to downgrade France's rating, bringing it in line with the ratings currently assigned to France by Fitch and S&P. French Prime Minister Lecornu welcomed Moody's decision to maintain France's rating that day. He said the French government will strive to pass the 2027 budget bill before the end of this year and achieve the goal of reducing the fiscal deficit ratio to 5%.
