Iraq's Oil Minister Basim Mohammed said in an interview with state television on Tuesday that Iraq exported 70 million barrels of oil in August, with current daily exports exceeding 3 million barrels. Transporting crude by road from southern oil fields to Kirkuk storage facilities is expected to increase exports through the Turkish port of Ceyhan to more than 600,000 barrels per day. Iraq launched a pilot operation this month to transport crude by road from southern oil fields to Kirkuk to increase supply to the northern export system and potentially boost shipments through Ceyhan. The move aims to increase flows on the northern export route after the US-Israeli war against Iran disrupted Iraq's exports through the Strait of Hormuz. Mohammed added that oil fields in Iraq's Kurdistan region are currently producing about 200,000 barrels per day.
