On August 12, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group (CME Group) announced the upcoming launch of two computing power futures contracts in collaboration with Silicon Data, scheduled for October 5, 2026, pending regulatory approval. These innovative trading instruments will provide companies looking to manage computing costs with hedging and investment options. The two contracts are the Silicon Data H100 Lease Index Futures and the Silicon Data B200 Lease Index Futures, which will track an index measuring the hourly leasing costs of graphics processing units (GPUs). These new contracts will be listed on the CME and governed by the rules of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), becoming effective only after regulatory approval.
GPUs are operated in the market intelligence and benchmarking field, supported by the global trading firm DRW.
