On August 7, data from the Macao Statistics and Census Service showed that in the first half of this year, a total of 2,726 new companies were established, primarily engaged in wholesale and retail trade, and business services, with 995 and 764 companies respectively. During the same period, 545 companies were dissolved, resulting in a net increase of 2,181 companies. In the first half of the year, the registered capital of newly established companies totaled 390 million patacas (MOP), and by source of funds, 110 million came from mainland China and 250 million from the Macao SAR, accounting for 28.8% and 63.5% of the total respectively; funds from mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area amounted to 28.78 million, with Zhuhai accounting for 69.3%. Funds from Hong Kong SAR totaled 19.82 million. In terms of registered capital, there were 2,045 newly established companies with a registered capital of less than 50,000 patacas, making up 75.0% of the total, with the corresponding capital (52.46 million) accounting for 13.4% of the total; there were 39 newly established companies with registered capital of 1 million patacas or more, with the capital (250 million) accounting for 63.3% of the total.
